Danville Foodstock is the brainchild of Deeper Blues and MidWest Management. This annual benefit concert supports the Danville Area Food Pantry with food and monetary donations. Cofounder Lane Baldwin explains:

"Deeper Blues is all about honoring the tradition behind the Blues as it was in the beginning. A strong sense of community, and the support of each member of that community is integral to that tradition. Now, who do you know who needs help more than those who are unable to feed their children?

"There are several in our team who, at one time or another, have had to rely on the kindness of others to put food on the table. I'm one of them. I know about the loneliness and despair that goes with that. And we all want to address that in our community, to bring some hope to those in dire need."

Now, Foodstock has blossomed beyond our wildest dreams! Friends in several cities are working with us to produce Foodstock events in other areas. In addition, beginning in January, 2009, we began serving a monthly Sunday dinner. As the year progresses, we look forward to serving more food - and hope! - to those in need.
